Hunts Point Alliance for Children
Helping transform the poorest zip code in America
Overview

Just ten miles from Madison Ave

The Hunts Point peninsula is a single square mile of the South Bronx in New York City, and the $5 billion central food supply hub for 22 million people in the Northeast, housing its produce, fish, and meat markets.

Directly adjacent to the industrial area is a residential community located in the poorest congressional district in the United States. Cut off by thousands of daily truck trips, Hunts Point residents have endured socioeconomic disadvantages characterized by poverty, poor performing schools, high crime, and little access to fresh food from the nearby wholesale markets, exasperating health disparities.
